Stage Production Notes
From Up Here is set in New York and tells the story of five strangers who meet on the Brooklyn Bridge.
From Up Here started life at the The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland as a 20 minute devised piece. Four students, Aaron Lee Lambert, Adam Day Howard, Benjamin Murray and Adrianne Salmon, developed the piece into a 45 minute version for their 2009 West End showcase.
In partnership with Perfect Pitch and South Hill Park Arts Centre, Aaron Lee Lambert continued to develop the show into a one-act musical. Founded in 2006, Perfect Pitch is a UK-based theatre company “dedicated to the creation and development of new British musicals.”
South Hill Park Arts Centre sought to explore live streaming following the success of capturing new audiences with podcasting, and in June 2012, received a British Arts Council grant specifically to fund live-streaming projects. From Up Here was the first livestreamed performance resulting from the grant.
The world premier of From Up Here was livestreamed on June 14, 2012. The livestream was filmed by UnVeil Arts. It was available to view for free through WhatsOnStage.com and is now available for rent, and to purchase, on the UK theatre streaming site Digital Theatre.
The show is available for amateur and professional licensing via Perfect Pitch.
