First launched in 2013, ScreenX is a 270º screen that aims to be the future of 3D cinema without the need for glasses. Able to be retrofitted into existing cinemas, the technology is predominantly available in select cities throughout China. Other locations include South Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, France, Switzerland, Turkey, and, most recently, the United States. Regal have installed ScreenX in select cinemas in Southern California, New York City, and San Francisco, with plans to expand to Atlanta.

In December 2017 the NFL and Cirque du Soleil launched the NFL Experience Times Square. Set to be in a "state-of-the-art interactive attraction that promises to bring football fans closer to the game than ever before,” the experience included a 4D cinema, augmented reality, and other “immersive elements.” With steep ticket prices, $37 for adults and $29 for children, the attraction did not sell well. Although the NFL Experience was scheduled to close on September 30, it is currently open with free admission.
